Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced during a two-day official visit to Bangladesh to address the Rohingya refugee situation that Malaysia would be building a RM3.5 million (US$830,000) field hospital for refugees currently placed in and around Cox’s Bazar.

He added that the hospital would be built within a month’s time, pending approval from the Bangladeshi government.

“This hospital will have 50 beds. It will be built by the Armed Forces military corps and the Health Ministry,” The Sun quotes Zahid as saying.

The announcement was made at Kutupalong Camp, 35km from Cox’s Bazar, and one of the many camps housing displaced Rohingya.
