Malaysians, brace yourselves for some volcanic ash!

Hey Malaysians, regarding the volcano eruption at Mount Sinabung in Sumatera, Indonesia? There’s some good news and some bad news.

The good news is, the volcanic ash is not expected to have any effect on Malaysia – yet! – as the winds are blowing from the northwest.

The bad news? The winds are expected to shift beginning on Tuesday.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau told Bernama that the volcanic ash is currently being blown away from Malaysia, but we can expect the ash to hit the country very soon.

“If Mount Sinabung continues to erupt, the volcanic ash could reach Peninsular Malaysia after 25 or 26 May,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Six people lost their lives while three more are still in critical condition after they were affected by the ash from Mount Sinabung, one of the most active volcanos in Indonesia which erupted on Saturday.
