According to a dubious Facebook post written by his wife, Nor Mahmudah Ahmad, Malaysia’s most-wanted man, and Islamic State terrorist, Muhammad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi, is dead. Experts say that the post reads suspiciously as though Wanndy has written it himself, and is now on the run.

A source close to the matter says that it is quite likely that the post is untrue, and that Wanndy is still alive. Elaborating further the source goes on to say he had probably staged his own death to “emerge as a new person” and avoid detection, adding, “he is really desperate and will try anything.” He has been accused of misappropriating IS funds for personal use. Nothing like a little Malaysian flavour in the Islamic State indeed.

His wife’s Facebook status states that he had been killed in Syria in a drone strike and goes on to say: “My Mujahid, finally it is your time to go. I will remain here and carry on with the work you started. I accept this as fate.” Apparently, this is something Wanndy would totally say.

Malaysian investigators are keen to substantiate these reports, with Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Commissioner Mohamad Fuzi Harun quoted as saying, “we are checking. We want to know quickly.’’

As we reported last week, Wanndy has been a wanted man both internationally and in Malaysia since being accused of recruiting fresh terrorists, raising funds for terrorist activities, and being made boss of IS initiatives in Malaysia. He has, allegedly, been under pressure to stage an attack in the region by year-end.
