Taylor Swift might just have the power to vanquish toxic masculinity and her influence is evident in a recent TikTok video that has gone viral.

In the video, a group of young Malaysian boys from a school in Kuala Lumpur joyfully lip sync to her timeless hit, “You Belong With Me.”

The video features several transitions showcasing six to seven boys serenading to the popular tune, and their courage in publicly enjoying “feminine” music has been widely celebrated on social media.

This heartwarming display is a testament to the transformative power of music and the potential of young people to challenge gender norms and stereotypes.

Several users on social media also recalled how they were shamed back in the day for liking certain artists.

Users also said the younger generation aka Gen Z is lucky because they can be open about enjoying music from artists like Taylor Swift.

“Kids nowadays are very lucky to show who they are and what they like. During PE classes in my time, we were forced to play football,” one user said.

Meanwhile, another one said he was boycotted in school because he liked Taylor Swift.

A few other users also said how some of the female artists they liked meant that they would be deemed queer, and not because the artists actually produced good music.

Given the widespread popularity and diverse fans of Taylor Swift – and pop music generally – no one should be judged on what they listen to these days. Emo kids and pop queens, you do you.
