A young Malaysian has placed 14th out of over 1,100 participants at the World Rubik’s Cube Tournament in Paris.
Muhammad Hariz Azizan was able to travel to Paris with supplemental help from sponsors, although transportation and accommodation had to be managed privately. He sold magnetic Rubik’s cubes to raise funds for himself, and is happy with the end result to “go further in the game.”
Hariz is the second youngest in a family of 10 siblings. He began playing when he was 12-years-old.
At least year’s tournament, he wore a baju melayu, one of the traditional ways to dress for Malaysian men to highlight our country’s culture. However, most of the time, he likes to wear sweaters. We feel you, fam.
He told newspaper Harian Metro that in order to qualify for the world championship, he had to place first in Malaysia. “I hold the national record of 6.55 seconds to solve the cube,” he said.
Check out his moves in the video below. Prepare yourself to be dumbfounded. And mad ,mad props to putting us on the map, especially in France, where we’re mostly known for submarine scandals.
