A Malaysian man has been jailed for 21 months for his role in running a brothel in Georgia, in the southern United States. Two Chinese nationals were also jailed after their vice ring was busted by police last year.

The Malaysian has been identified as 59-year-old Chan Kong Chow, who was found to be guilty of managing the brothel along with 54-year-old Biyun Gong, a Chinese woman. They were both working under the mastermind, another female Chinese national, Xiaohong Huang, 45.

Huang, known at different times as Michelle or Jenny, had operated the brothel out of an apartment complex in Doraville, a town of less than 10,000 people north of Atlanta, from December 2005 to May 2017, when it was shut down by police. Chow and Gong managed the day-to-day operations of the vice den.

Women of Asian descent were brought to the United States to work as prostitutes, and would travel to Atlanta via commercial flights on a 10-day rotating basis, according to prosecutors.

Word-of-mouth and online advertisement fueled the bordello’s clientele. Checking accounts showed that more than US$150,000 (RM600,000) was laundered, which makes us think that she did a good job at washing money over 12 years, if that’s all the feds could find.

The trio plead guilty in July to interstate prostitution and money laundering.
