Popular Bookstores said in a statement cited by the news portal that they took the complaints seriously and they took “immediate action to ensure that the book has been removed from our shelves”.

The company’s spokesperson added that the book, reportedly categorised under the ‘Local Interest’ catergory in the adults section, is meant for those aged 18 and above.

“In order to prevent those who do not meet the criterion from accessing the book, each copy comes with a warning label indicating its mature content,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
