Malaysia and Singapore will reopen to vaccinated travelers by land or air by month’s end – with some wrinkles.
Under the scheme, travelers do not have to self-isolate upon arrival but must test negative for COVID-19 prior to departure and when they land, as well as show proof of vaccination.
They will also have to book special flights under the Vaccinated Travel Lane program through Singapore Airlines, Scoot, AirAsia, Jetstar, Malaysia Airlines, and Malindo Air.
Long-term pass holders, such as those working in either country, will be able to travel by land.
As the requirements differ slightly in each country, here’s what’s required either way:
From Singapore to Malaysia:
- PCR test two days prior to departure
- PCR test upon arrival
- Visitors on short-term passes will need a return ticket and travel insurance with minimum coverage of RM100,000 (US$24,000) for COVID-19-related treatment
- Digital proof of vaccination, except for children under 12
- Download the MySejahtera app (iOS/Android) for contact-tracing
From Malaysia to Singapore:
- PCR test two days prior to departure
- PCR test upon arrival
- Visitors on short-term passes will need a return ticket and travel insurance with minimum coverage of $30,000 (US$22,100) for COVID-19-related medical treatment
- Digital proof of vaccination, except for children under 12
- Download the TraceTogether app (iOS/Android) for contact-tracing
