Don’t fret revelers, plenty of pills in the sea

Depending on which side of the law you prefer standing, your New Year’s plans may just have taken a bit of a hampering: a 50kg drug haul bound for Malaysia was seized in New Delhi yesterday.

Indian police are looking for the suspect in relation to a hidden consignment of narcotics discovered inside a cargo container.

Authorities from India’s anti-smuggling agency seized 44.2kg of methaqualone, a sedative commonly referred to as quaaludes, and something we at Coconuts KL were unaware was still available beyond the first season of Sex and the City: 5.9kg of piperonal, a controlled substance often mixed with MDMA, that has a light, cherry-like flavor. Not that we would know!

The consignment had been cleared by the Customs Department; however, officials later received a tip-off, and discovered that the addresses used were fake.
