In a country that thrives on giving you endless reasons to be angry and lash out at the people close to you, especially your romantic partners, Malaysians seem to have a lot more self-control than that.
According to market research firm Ipsos’s Global Love Life Satisfaction survey that was released recently, Malaysia ranked pretty high on one’s satisfaction with their romantic relationships.
The survey said 90% of Malaysian couples said they are satisfied with their relationship with their spouse or partner. It also revealed that 80% of Malaysians say they are satisfied with feeling loved and 57% say they are satisfied with their romantic or sex life.
Malaysia joins Indonesia (94%), Netherlands (94%) and Thailand (90%) with couples satisfied with their relationship with their spouse or partner.
However love is not in the air for everyone, based on the survey, Japan (70%) and South Korea (73%) are the least likely to be satisfied.
“Across 32 countries, on average, more than four in five people who are married or have partners (84%) say they are satisfied with their relationship,” it said.
“Three in four (76%) said they are satisfied with feeling loved, while only two in three (63%) say they are satisfied with their romantic or sex life.”
A total of 32 countries were included in the survey among 22,508 adults aged from 18 to 74 from Dec. 22, 2022 to Jan 6 this year.
The survey which ran from December 22 to January 6 this year, includes 22,508 adults aged 18 to 74 from 32 countries.
On average, the survey said only 14% of couples say they are not very or not at all satisfied with their relationship with their spouse or partner.
According to the survey, baby boomers (80%) are more likely to feel loved than Generation X (75%), millennials (76%), and Generation Z (76%).
Millennials (68%), Gen X (62%), Gen Z (59%), and baby boomers (61%), are the most satisfied with their romantic or sex lives.
Notably, there is no significant difference in how satisfied men and women are with their love lives on a global scale.
Nearly equal percentages of men and women in committed relationships are content with their spouses or partners (85% for men and 83% for women), with their sexual or romantic lives (63% for both), and with how much they feel loved (75% for men and 76% for women).
