Malaysia Airlines Flight MH148 from Melbourne turns back due to engine fire fears

A Malaysian Airline Airbus A330 aircraft flying out of Melbourne. Australia’s Tullamarine Airport this afternoon was forced to turn back and execute an emergency landing, due to fears that an engine fire might have broken out. 

News.com.au reports that MAS Flight MH148, which was en route to Kuala Lumpur, is currently being inspected by engineers and ground crews in Melbourne. 

All 300 people aboard the aircraft disembarked safely upon its return to Melbourne. 

“Preliminary inspection reveals no physical evidence of fire externally, and further assessment is underway,” read a Malaysia Airlines statement to News.com.au.
