Dinners were left terrified after 4 armed men stormed a BBQ restaurant in Taman Melawati where they were eating, and demanded their valuables. CCTV footage from the restaurant has surfaced showing the Sunday night dinner being interrupted at 9:42pm by men wearing motorcycle helmets and waving machetes. The victims appeared shocked, with some robbers taking the customer’s bags themselves, while other patrons simply gave their belongings with no hesitation. They also took the restaurant’s cash and safe.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hamzah Alias is quoted as saying that, “a police team was deployed to the restaurant once we were notified” and that “the investigation is on-going.”
Among items stolen were several mobile phones worth about RM29,745. They reportedly fled the scene on three Yamaha Y150LC motorcycles described as being blue, orange and purple.
