Fifteen luxury handbags valued at over HK$1.44 million (RM750,000, US$185,000) were stolen from the Hong Kong retail pop-up owned by, Malaysia’s richest man, Robert Kuok’s daughter in Hong Kong.
In what appears to be a smash-and-grab of the shopfront’s display window, 14 Hermès bags and one YLS bag, according to the South China Morning Post.
The shop, which is a temporary retail location linked to the online luxury re-seller, Guiltless, founded by Kuok’s youngest daughter, Yen Kuok. Their website indicates that the shop opened October 24, and had planned to be operational through the holiday season until December 26.
The shop is located in the heart of Hong Kong’s financial district, in the Man Yee Building shopping center on Queen’s Road Central.
The theft was only discovered over an hour after the incident, after a security guard noticed a broken window while on duty at 7:49am. A meter-long sledgehammer used by the robbers was found inside.
Police report that the suspects were three masked men who broke the window at 6:30am, and that the incident took less than a minute from beginning to end.
