Two foreign companies have been give a week to fix the braking system failures that have plagued LRT trains since February.
Bernama reports that Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) wants a solution from the manufacturers from Canada and Germany by next week.
“I had urged them, this is not an option, they must find a permanent solution to solve this problem immediately,” Prasarana group managing director Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz was quoted as saying.
On Wednesday, two back to back incidents involving LRT train brakes made headlines, putting the safety of passengers at risk. Prasarana had revealed yesterday that these were not isolated incidents and that brake malfunctions have happened six times this year.
