Lorry driver makes pit stop at Klang gas station, robbed of RM5000

Filling up petrol remains a sketchy proposition for Malaysian drivers: a lorry driver was robbed of RM5000 when he was topping up at a petrol station in Klang.

The victim made the stop at the station in Persiaran Tengku Ampuan Rahimah at 9pm on Sunday when seven men in three cars pulled up to him.

They proceeded to corner the lorry driver before seizing his sling bag containing the cash as well as taking the keys to the lorry.

The robbers escaped in their cars and the stolen lorry but left the lorry driver unharmed.

South Klang OCP Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat reported that police were able to track down three of the seven suspects more than four hours later, based on the description provided by the lorry driver.

The three suspects, aged 26, 27 and 28, were arrested after a 30-minute car chase in Klang.

“The three suspects have previous criminal records for robbery.

“We are still on the hunt for the other accomplices,” he said yesterday.

ACP Kamarul Zaman urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station as soon as possible.
