Local lingerie entrepreneur apologizes for laying blame on women for porn addiction, and partially absolving incest rapist

Where to begin? In a sea of problematic Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram postings, seemingly giving every proverbial village idiot a platform to spout nonsense, we have the latest “opinion” to take the cake — equal parts appalling and dangerous.

Meet Bonda Umirah Taib, founder of the local enterprise, Le Maream Lingerie, and the lady who a few days ago took to her Instagram video channel to share some “controversial views,” shall we say.

That's Bonda Umirah in the middle!
That’s Bonda Umirah in the middle!

TL;DR – she’s sorry and doesn’t think grandparents should rape their grandkids, if we’re all just out here doing our part to keep everyone happy.

Wut? Yeah, OK – put on your silkiest robe, lace eye mask, and grab a bra — we’re about to take you for a ride.

In a now-deleted video that addressed pornography, and the husbands who watch it (Oh Bonda Umirah, do we have news for you if you think porn appeals only to men) the entrepreneur told her female followers:

“Women out there, you can’t blame your husbands completely when they watch porn. The fault lies with us because we are not satisfying their needs.”

Got it? Their predilection for hentai porn is on you, k? Be a little more what they watch and maybe they won’t be so into a cartoon, sea creature gang-bang, or whatever floats their boat.

As if that weren’t bad enough, she then went on to elaborate the most warped example of her thinking that one could fathom. “If, for example, a grandfather were to violate his grandchild I cannot put 100% blame on the grandfather. Maybe he’s married to a grandmother, but she is not what she used to be when she was younger and the grandfather has to satisfy his lust by watching porn.”

Got it, grandma? Your old face and body are to blame, and there’s nothing you can do about that – not even buy lingerie. Barf.

Shorter clips of her 30-minute-plus long rant can still be found online:

Netizens were appalled, quickly calling her out, and asking for the video to be taken down (it was — eventually), and for an apology.

Today, Bonda Umirah issued a mea culpa, explaining that she was humbled, doesn’t blame women for men watching porn, blames rapists for raping, and is really depressed over all of this.

She also highlighted that her lingerie aims to bring Shariah compliant marketing to selling lingerie and stands behind not using women’s bodies as vehicles to sell her product.

Right – probably too busy anyway doing their part to stop porn and rape, anyway. Call in a mannequin to do the dirty work, just don’t make it too dirty.

We digress: Bonda Umirah’s apology was generally accepted, with many hoping that she had taken the lesson to heart, and realized how damaging her comments were to women and victims alike.

Although with a quick scroll through the type of content espoused on the rest of her timeline, we’re not so sure.
