Police have denied issuing a list of locations — that has been circulating on social media and messaging platforms — that have supposedly been marked as targets for terrorists.
The Star Online quotes Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar as saying that such a list ‘did not come from the police force’.
“Rest assured that we are monitoring locations that we believe are targeted. I have already said on Hari Raya that we do not need to divulge how we have stepped up security at those locations,” Khalid reportedly said.
The list reportedly claimed that militants were targeting several areas in the Klang Valley including Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Bukit Bintang, Publika, Solaris, Hartamas, Bangsar and The Curve in Petaling Jaya.
Earlier this week, Khalid confirmed that a grenade attack at the Movida outlet in Puchong on June 28 was the first ever successful terror act on Malaysian soil linked to the global militant network, Islamic State (IS).
