Limkokwing University student drowns in Perhentian islands

A Yemeni student enrolled at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology drowned off of the Perhentian islands yesterday afternoon.

Twenty-four-year-old Abkar Maged Mahmood Mohammed was swimming with friends off of the smaller Perhentian Kecil when he ran into trouble in the sea. He was traveling with a group of a dozen friends, and they were scheduled to return to Kuala Lumpur today.

Friends say that he disappeared from view after wadding into the ocean off the picturesque islands.

Authorities were alerted, and a rescue team was sent out. A body was recovered near the Long Beach part of the island at 2:20pm. It has since been sent for a postmortem at a Besut Hospital on the mainland.
