The remains of a human torso – deprived of the head, arms, and legs – was discovered in a swamp near the Telok Nipah Jetty, in Pulau Indah near Klang, yesterday.
South Klang district police chief ACP Kamarul Zaman Mamat told Sinar Harian the remains were found by local residents at about 2.30pm Tuesday afternoon.
“Investigations at the scene yielded only the torso; the victim is believed to have been male,” he said.
“The victim appeared to be fair-skinned and aged between 20 to 30 years old. We believe he could have been of Chinese, Vietnamese or Myanmar descent.”
One notable feature on the torso was a Buddha tattoo etched onto the back.
Kamarul added that his officers believe the body had been left in the swamp for about a week before it was discovered, and signs of knife or parang slashes could be seen on the back.
The remains were taken to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for post-mortem.
