UK fashion icon Zondra Rhodes is well-regarded around the world for her striking designs and innovative use of fabrics, and for helping to maintain London’s bold style manifesto on the world stage throughout the 70s, and well into the 21st Century.
In conjunction with KL Fashion Weekend and the UK’s GREAT campaign, Zondra will be collaborating with Malaysia’s Karyaneka to produce avant garde designs using local batik, icat and tie-dye silks.
The landmark collaboration will culminate in an exhibition titled Zandra Rhodes: Lifelong Love Affair With Textile, to be unveiled at the National Textile Museum in the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
She will also be showcasing her couture collection at the Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda Spring/Summer 2015, part of the KL Fashion Weekend Autumn/Winter 2014/15.
Throughout her storied career, Rhodes has clothed the creme de la creme of global high society: luminaries such as Princess Diana, Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton have all been decked out in her striking creations.
Here’s a sampling of what we might see from Rhodes at the KL Fashion Weekend. We can’t wait to see what she does with Malaysian batik!
