About 80 percent of the Fire And Rescue Department workforce would have to work through the upcoming festive season.
According to Bernama, the department has — as it does annually — frozen the leave of 11,840 of its officers and personnel during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period.
“Besides patrolling hot spots on the highway where risks of fire is high and road accidents, they will also patrol at crowded areas,” Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique was quoted as saying.
Halimah said this was the norm in Bomba, in order to ensure firemen are on duty and alert during emergencies.
