Kota Kinabalu police looking for six men involved in mall attacks on two separate individuals

Sabah police are on the lookout for six young men who were captured on camera assaulting two other males in a Kota Kinabalu mall yesterday.

The vicious attack took place at a popular shopping mall in the city, just outside of the cinema, with a member of the public recording a 46-second clip and uploading it to social media.

Warning — the clip is of a violent nature, so play with caution.

In the short video, a group of men, along with a peripheral girl, are seen approaching another man near the escalators, punching and kicking him, while one individual stomps on him. Suddenly, the camera pans to the left, and a second individual is attacked, with a similar modus operandi. Dozens of members of the public stand by and watch, though no one does anything to intervene and stop either attack.

Social media users have since demanded that police track down the assailants.

Kota Kinabalu acting police chief, George Abd Rakman, confirmed to Free Malaysia Today that the attack did indeed occur, and happened at approximately 4pm yesterday.

George clarified that the first victim was a 22-year-old male, who was attacked by three men initially, with another trio later joining in. When giving his statement to police, the victim alleges that he has no idea why he, or the second man were attacked.
