Kopitiam worker chases thieves, busts robbery ring

Last Sunday, circa 4am, kopitiam worker Ahmad Faizalli gave chase to the thieves that were robbing his work place. For 20 minutes, he stayed fresh on their tail, until a police patrol car joined the pursuit, eventually catching the would-be robbers, who were part of a wider syndicate.

The restaurant, in the Seksyen 15 area of Shah Alam, had closed hours earlier. Faizalli had stayed back in the area with friends, and walking back to his hostel, noticed that the doors were open, and people inside.

Realizing that they were ransacking the place, he shouted, and when they started running, he went right after them. When a police patrol car appeared, he called for help, and they chased the suspect together.

In the suspects trail “police found items used for breaking and entering,” said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat. During the fiasco, the suspect’s accomplices drove past the area in a van, resulting in a car chase by police.

“The van was finally stopped in Seksyen 17 and we arrested two more suspects,” Shafien added, adding that checks showed the van had been stolen recently.”
After being apprehended, the police discovered that the group had been targeting restaurants in the area over the last two months.

Not all heroes wear capes.
