While we understand that traveling around the holidays can be stressful, that’s never a justification for being belligerent toward airport staff. While that principle may not matter to those with an over-inflated sense of privilege, perhaps the risk of their rudeness being caught on camera and earning them internet infamy will make them think twice.
A brief clip posted on Tiktok yesterday by a member of the ground staff at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which shows a woman cursing and threatening an airport employee, has gone viral and earned the traveler the nickname “KLIA Karen”.
@missssssyl What would u do if people like this attack you for no reason?

Although the context of the altercation is unclear from the video, she can be seen slamming down her Norwegian passport and threatening to get the “embassy on your motherf*cking ass.”
The woman then crosses her arms and taunts the staff member by making kissy-kissy faces at them before demanding their name.
The video, which was posted by TikTok user @missssssyl, is captioned “What would you do if people like this attacked you for no reason?”
KLIA police chief ACP Imran Abd Rahman told The Star that the woman in the video had boarded her plane and then asked to exit it because she had left some stuff in the airport. After her request was denied due to regulations, she made a scene leading the airport police to get involved.
“She was arrested, and we charged her with behaving inappropriately; she was fined RM100 (US$23),” ACP Imran said.
After the video was posted to the r/Malaysia subreddit yesterday, it was reposted to r/Norway where her fellow Norwegians were equally appalled by her behavior:
