KLIA cargo worker charged over Facebook bomb threat

A man working in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) cargo operations was charged in the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court yesterday of intentionally causing fear among the public through a Facebook post he made.

24-year old Syafiq Abdul Rahim allegedly posted a Facebook post on the page for Persatuan Kongsi Gelap Melayu (Malay Secret Society Association), stating that certain locations in KL were going to be bombed.

In the Facebook posting, Syafiq allegedly said the targets were to be a liqour factory in Shah Alam, the Pavilion shopping mall in Bukit Bintang, Bukit Aman national police headquarters, the Hindu temple in Batu Caves, and the National Mosque.

He was accused of committing the offence in Bandara Kinrara, Subang Jaya, at 12.30pm on August 24, reports Bernama. He claimed trial to the charges levelled against him.

Bail was set at RM2,000 by judge Yasmin Abdul Razak, and re-mention of the case was scheduled for October 30.
