Police are reportedly on an all out war against triads in Klang, with full-fledged operations to weed them out of their territories and put them behind bars.
The Rakyat Post reports that 14 senior officers and 56 police personnel have been roped into the crackdown which began yesterday.
Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Kamarul Zaman Mamat was quoted as saying that police have conducted roadblocks, checks on houses, popular gathering spots and entertainment outlets believed to be frequented by triad members.
He had said that over 20 people did not turn up for the funeral of a 26-year-old Gang 36 member who was shot dead over the weekend.
“There was speculation that 300 to 500 people would attend the funeral as he was an important man in the gang. But only 20 people showed up as the rest ran off, fearing the possibility of being arrested,” he said.
