KL-Padang Besar electric train service to start July 10

Electric trains will begin their runs from Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar tomorrow (July 10).

The Star Online reports that  these trains — KTMB’s Electric Train Service (ETS) with the capacity to transport 312 passengers at a time —will service the northern route twice daily.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was quoted as saying that fares would be priced at RM81.

“We have ordered 10 sets of the electric trains, and once they are ready, the frequency will increase,” he was quoted as saying.

The journey is expected to take around four hours, with stops at 28 stations along the way, including Kuala Kangsar, Taiping and Kamunting.
