A mother has lodged a police report against the actions of her daughter’s kindergarten headmistress after discovering that the woman tied-up her 5-year-old girl as a punishment, according to The Star.

Teng Aai Hong only discovered the shocking means of discipline when she caught her daughter playing roughly with her 2-year-old brother.

Noticing that she had tied and gagged him, she went to scold the youngster. However, the girl responded that she was merely doing what her headmistress at a Setapak kindergarten had done to her when she was naughty.

The horrified mother confronted the woman, who admitted freely to her actions, saying that the crazily inappropriate treatment was simply one of her methods for punishing students who misbehave.

That right, a method beloved by kidnappers the world-over is also something that this woman thinks will work on children who talk during reading-time.

The mother has since taken her daughter out of the school, and held a press conference at Wisma MCA, accompanied by MCA (the Chinese party within the ruling coalition government) Public Services and Complaints Department chief, and also Malaysia’s most patient grievances investigator, Datuk Seri Michael Chong.

Police are now investigating.

Educators, if your discipline is on par with a method that can legitimately be used to hold someone hostage, you may want to loosen up a bit, and we don’t mean the rope.
