Kind-hearted Malaysians bring Legoland to cancer-stricken boy’s house

Muhammad Danish Maarif is a 11-year-old boy from Selangor who was diagnosed with terminal osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

His dream was to visit his favourite toy park Legoland in Johor Baru, but it was dashed when doctors advised him not to travel after the cancer spread all over his body.

When a group of Malaysians, led by Wan Shahriza Wan Ab Rahman, heard about his plight, they decided to make his dream come true – by bringing Legoland to his house!

On Wednesday, the group turned up at Muhammad Danish’s Kuala Selangor house with boxes and boxes of Lego contributed by Legoland Malaysia Resort.

Several Lego mascots such as Lego Darth Vader, Lego Policeman and Lego Builder, as well as LOM-LUG – a Lego user group in Malaysia – and ‘Star Wars’ fan group 501st Legion Malaysia Outpost also showed up at his home.

That’s not all; to complete the Legoland experience, the team also decorated Muhammad Danish’s room with Lego to make it look like a Legoland Malaysia Hotel room.

The surprise Lego party paid off as it put a smile on the boy’s face.

“He is a very good boy, and he tries his best to not place demands on me.

I never expected to see that his request would lead to this, and I am very thankful. We never thought that people would do this for him. He has been smiling, a sign that he is very happy,” Muhammad Danish’s mother Suhaida Mohamad told The Star Online‘s Tan Li Yiang.

Also present at the party was Young Pil Kim, interim general manager at Legoland Malaysia Resort, who told the news portal that the event was a success, thanks to the hard work put in by the parties involved.

“Despite not being able to bring Danish to Legoland Malaysia Resort, we hope we were able to bring Legoland Malaysia Resort to him.

“I am really thankful to the people involved in helping Danish and bringing this matter to the public,” he was quoted as saying.
