Eleven children, aged between eight and 18, were rescued from three houses in Taman Rasah Jaya in Seremban during a police operation on Monday.
According to news report by Kosmo!, the children were reportedly forced to beg for money on the streets to pay off their parents’ debts with loan sharks.
This came to light when the local authorities arrested 11 people, aged between 24 and 76, who were believed to be loan sharks.
Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Jaafar Mohd Yusof told the daily that the children were “leased” to the illegal moneylenders after their parents failed to settle their debts.
Jaafar also added as of Thursday, no one had yet to come forward to claim their children.
