Last night, a total of 249 kids and teenagers were picked up and detained by police in a lead-up to the SEA Games 2017, hosted throughout Kuala Lumpur. Police were called after members of the public reported the youth expressing anti-social behavior in and around the KLCC area.

Police chief Mohd Sukri Kaman told New Straits Times, that those picked up ranged in ages from as young as 10 years old, to 17 years old. Where are their parents?!

The three-hour long operation was dubbed Op Banteras Rimau, and started at 7pm.

Police seized weapons including, and not limited to, pocket knives, knuckle dusters, and drugs from the teens. The youth were then taken to Dang Wangi police station for urine tests.

There is nothing more frightening than children with weapons: they have no sense, little to lose, and are 24/7 trying to impress their friends by doing dumb things.

Police are cracking down ahead of the sports event, which will see athletes from all over Southeast Asia come to KL to compete, from August 19 to 30. Authorities are keen to show tourists the city’s best version of themselves, and that doesn’t include ruffian teens.
