Everybody is kung fu fighting these days.
A few days after videos of a brawl which took place after a parking dispute went viral, another video is making its round on social media.
This time, it reportedly stars a prominent Kedah politician.
In the 30-second video clip uploaded by Faceboook user called Adam Hoonigan, the politician and two other men were seen allegedly assaulting a youth and his girlfriend in the middle of a busy street in Alor Setar.
In the Facebook posting, the victim, identified as Alif Adam, claimed that the incident took place at around 5.45pm on 15 May. He had just exited a mall in Lebuhraya Darulaman when a black sports utility vehicle (SUV) pulled up next to his car and started honking loudly at him.
Alif then claimed that the driver of the SUV wound down the window and angrily shouted at him, allegedly saying: “Kenapa? Kenapa? Hang tidak kenal lagi aku siapa? (Why? Why? Don’t you know who I am?)”
Then, Alif said that a passenger came out of the SUV, opened his door, yanked out his car keys and punched him in the mouth.
“I also managed to punch him when he pulled me out of my car. Two men, in their 20s, then came out of the SUV and the three of them beat me up,” he wrote in the post, which has since been shared more than 15,000 times on Facebook.
“My girlfriend, who tried to stop the fight, was punched in her chest and arms,” he claimed, adding that when passers-by came to his aid, the SUV left the scene.
Alif then lodged a police report, and identified one of the three men as a prominent Kedah politician.
According to The Star Online, Kota Setar district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin said police would soon call up the politician to record his statement, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
