Well, well – how the mighty have fallen. Turns out that the nation’s most disparaged figure of the last week, “Datuk Seri” Nicky Liow, isn’t actually a “Datuk Seri” at all. Looks like self-proclaimed Datuk’s calling card as a titled citizen, is just as invisible as The Emperor’s New Clothes.
The Malaysian Insight reports that the Sultan of Kedah’s senior private secretary, confirmed that the businessman had never been awarded the title, and that such an honor was only awarded to Kedah royalty, state dignitaries, and individuals who had contributed to the state and the nation.
“Many have concluded the individual arrested (in the assault case) had received the title from the Sultan of Kedah. Kedah never conferred the ‘Datuk Seri’ title on that individual,” he said in a statement in Alor Star today.
Nicky, as we shall now respectfully refer to him until further notice, was charged with three counts of assault against three RELA members who asked him to move his illegally parked car outside a temple on Jalan Merdeka, in Ampang at 6:30am, October 27.
Things continued to go pear-shaped for the 29-year-old, seemingly unremarkable businessman (seriously, please someone explain what his company, Winner Dynasty Group, could possibly be beyond a low-grade MLM, we are all ears) when a string of past charges came to light.

Oh, and then there was the fact that he tested positive for drugs, and was subsequently given another charge relating to that offense.
The office of the Sultan of Kedah wants to set the record straight: he’s also not a Kedah Royalty Association Honorary Member card holder. They dissolved that back in 2013.
Nicky, Nicky, Nicky … seems like your lies have finally caught up with you, the truth is out and it took a nationally-recognized embarrassment to eek it out.
We know it will be tough coming back down to earth, but on the bright side, they say the truth will set you free. Only maybe after you serve some time.
