Kajang police officer injured in roadblock clash with Mat Rempit

A traffic police officer was thrown across the street and injured after he was rammed by an escaping mat rempit, or delinquent motorcyclist, at a roadblock in Kajang.

During the incident at around 11.45am yesterday, the traffic officer, 29-year old Mohd Hizzuad Johari, was injured on the back and head after being rammed by the motorcyclist.

Harian Metro reports that the mat rempit had resisted being held over by police officers at the roadblock, and attempted an escape.

Kajang district police chief ACP Willey Richard said that during the altercation, the suspect also fell from his motorcycle and was injured.

The attempted escape saw the police officer unable to evade the fleeing suspect in time before being hit.

Mohd Hizzuad was taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) for further treatment, and is reported to be in stable condition.

The 25-year old suspect has since been apprehended to aid in investigations.
