One teenager is facing serious consequences after he took control of a truck, and drove it on a 45-kilometer long chase with no less than 16 police patrol cars — two of which were completely destroyed — tailing him as he careened through the streets of Johor Baru before coming to a halt in the Taman Desa Tebrau neighborhood.

City police Assistant Commissioner Shahurinain Jais detailed that at 4am yesterday morning, police patrol noticed a large lorry driving awry, and attempted to stop vehicle. However, the 15-year-old driver managed to outflank four police vehicles, and began to lead them on a wild chase that would result in damage to several cop cars, as well as an attempt by the teen to get through a police barricade by driving though it. Police have also said that they discharged warning shots into the air to no avail.

Have we got your attention?

In total, 16 cars were involved in the pursuit, with two of them now a total write-off, according to police.

During the ride, the teen would come to take several curves at up to 75km/h, and also tried to reverse his way out of a dead end. In a truck. A big one. Eventually, another truck appeared on the scene, and the driver assisted police in finally stopping the suspect.

Perhaps the most shocking element to the story is that, while many, many cars suffered damages during the 90-minute chase, no member of the public, police, nor the suspect was actually hurt, save for a graze to his right side after he tried to escape (again) while being cuffed.

No motive has been reported as of yet, although the teen has insisted he was only “test driving” the truck. Police say the teen has no previous criminal record, and works part-time after dropping out of school.
