Johor-area police have rescued a 12-year-old boy from the home of his mother and step-father after what they believe has been two years of horrific abuse earlier this week.

Found on Tuesday with a heavily bruised torso, cuts to his back, and abrasions to his face, a neighbor allegedly spotted blood coming from the boy’s shirt, and alerted relevant authorities.

Painful images of his injuries began to circulate across social media yesterday, breaking netizens hearts in the process.

Police report that the boy’s mother is Indonesian, while his stepfather’s is Malaysian and an ex-auxiliary police officer. The pair are aged 29, and 38, and were arrested at their home in the Taman Bayu Puteri neighborhood of Johor Baru.

During the arrest, officers on the scene also took several items as evidence, including a microphone wire, a rotan (thin, rattan cane), and a hanger.

More information on the boy only adds to the sheer heartache of the situation: He has never been enrolled in school, nor does he have any documentation.

While now in the care of the Welfare Department, police are asking that anyone with any information on the case please lodge a report at their nearest station, or call the state police hotline at 07-2212999.
