Intrepid world traveler, native-Penangite, and sought-after (for questioning!) banker Jho Low’s superyacht has been spotted, just off of northern Aceh.
According to Malaysiakini, the maritime database website MarineTraffic, lodged that Low’s floating castle, the Equanimity, docked at 9:00am in Sabang, a town on Pulau Weh, a destination popular with divers.
MarineTraffic later documented that the yacht departed Sabang port late afternoon, hopefully with some fresh supplies! Hard getting berries and plush loo-roll out at sea, ammirite?!
The Equanimity has been spotted cruising various coastal resorts and holiday destinations.
The superyacht is reportedly valued at RM800 million, (US$190 million), but a drop in the bucket for the man who both Singapore prosecutors and the US Department of Justice have alleged misappropriated around US$1 billion in funds linked to 1MDB.
Yesterday, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the Malaysian government had formally forwarded a request to Interpol to locate the ephemeral financier.
While Low is often associated with A-list parties, and Las Vegas, we’re delighted to know that he’s at sea, and right now in the perfect place to get his PADI license.
Also, we’re not sure if Interpol has their open-water diving certification, so there’s that too.
