Jealous man slashes wife to death at budget hotel

A man allegedly slashed and killed his wife at a budget hotel in Johor Baru after learning about her alleged affair with another man.

According to The Star Online, the 21-year-old suspect committed the crime during a quarrel with his wife, also 21, on Wednesday.

He reportedly slashed her neck and cheeks before leaving her to bleed to death.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh told the news portal that the couple, from Malacca, was planning to travel to Singapore the next day to look for a job.

ACP Sulaiman said the incident came to light when the suspect turned himself in at the Johor Baru Sentral police station at 5pm.

Police reportedly found the victim’s body at the hotel room with two stab wounds on her shoulder and bruises and cuts on her palms.

The suspect, when questioned, admitted to using an 11-inch knife to attack the victim in a fit of jealousy over her affair, ACP Sulaiman told The Star.

The man has been remanded until July 27 and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
