Tokyo Dreams, a Japanese movie studio producing adult films, will soon allegedly be looking for their next male talents in Malaysia. The shortage of male porn actors in Japan has forced the studio to look for talent in other markets, and Southeast Asia is the first stop.
Studio recruitment manager Shime Tashaiki, is optimistic after holding audition in Singapore this month. “We saw some excellent actors at the Singapore auditions, and offered a total of five contacts to the men who performed best,” he is said to have told Sunday Register. “We hope to find more talented actors at our Malaysian auditions, due to be held in Kuala Lumpur. At this point, we are in the process of finding a suitable venue.” May we suggest somewhere with minimal carpeting, and wipeable surfaces?
Twenty-five men auditioned in Singapore, although only the five offered contracts managed to make it to the proverbial finish line. A Japanese actress was flown in to audition with the men, and they were asked to perform a scene from one of their favorite Japanese adult video (JAV) movies. Perhaps from classic titles such as I’m Just A Door Knob, To Be Honest For The Past 3 Years I Never Liked This Nickname, or 170cm Very Tall Badminton Player.
Tashaiki explained that although the casting hopefuls were eager, taking into consideration the pressure of camera, crew, and a professional actress, most lasted only a couple of minutes before “they arrived prematurely.” The lucky five will now be flown to Tokyo to train at the Tokyo Dreams academy.
Japan has found that although female performers are abundant, male actors are becoming increasingly hard to come by. Still considered a social taboo, men are plagued with shame, and fear of losing face should their parts in porn films be discovered.
Tashiaki went on to tell journalists that although time and place in KL are still yet to be determined, they have planned to hold auditions from mid-to-late June. You heard it here, Malaysian: get your engines ready, keep your balls on ice, and don’t “arrive early.”
