It’s one thing when you get caught stealing other people’s shoes. It’s another if you get busted at a mosque. It’s a whole different ball game if you rolled up to said mosque in a Mercedes to commit said shoe-thievery.
A security guard did more than a dozen visitors to the Masjid Wilayah near Hartamas a huge favour when he apprehended a 38-year old information technology officer on the premises red-handedly sweeping up pairs of fresh kicks while others were praying.
Once the IT officer was passed on to the cops, police found a staggering 13 pairs of boosted sneakers in the boot of the Mercedes-Benz the perp was driving.
“When asked, the suspect said the shoes were his but we realised that they did not match his size,” Sentul OCPD Assistant Commissioner R Munusamy told The Star Online.
“A man who was at the scene came forward and pointed out his shoes that were taken from the mosque.”
The car was found to have belonged to the suspect’s housemate.
We pity the housemate, really. It’s going to be hell to get the smell of 13 different pairs of sneakers from out of his boot.
