Autopsy results from Malaysian coroners were released moments ago over the mysterious disappearance and death of Irish-French teen Nora Quoirin, with experts concluding that she sadly died of upper intestinal bleeding.
Medical officials detailed that there were no signs of violence, abduction or rape on the young girl’s body, though tests are still ongoing.
Police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop told a press conference that the autopsy took nine hours, and that doctors suggested that the intestinal bleeding that killed her could have been caused by prolonged starvation, or stress.
The postmortem also concluded that the teen had been dead for two or three days before her body was found in a stream near a waterfall that she had been looking forward to exploring.
No injuries were found on her body, save for a bruise to her leg.
Volunteer hikers found Nora’s unclothed body down a steep ravine two kilometers from the resort after a 10-day search that involved 350 people, including army personnel, members of the public, local native people familiar with the dense jungle, and officials from the UK, France and Ireland.
Authorities have yet to offer an explanation as to why the 15-year-old was found not wearing clothes.
Nora, along with her parents and two siblings, arrived at a Negri Sembilan resort on August 3; however, when the family awoke the following morning, the teen was not in the room she shared with her siblings. A window, accessible only from the inside of the house, was open, but few clues indicated what had occurred to cause the teen to leave the premises.
Nora was described as a girl with special needs, and her parents had previously told media it as out of character for the young girl to stray far from them.
