Ibarhim Mat Zain, or as he would prefer to be known, Datuk Mahaguru Raja Bomoh 1Malaysia, has been accused of torture and assault by an Indonesian woman formerly in his employ as a maid.
The headline-grabbing shaman, most notorious for his antics with a pair of coconuts in KLIA ostensibly searching for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 through “mystical” means, was allegedly responsible for giving 47-year old Menik Fitriyanti from East Java stitches 30 centimetres long and impaired memory as a result of physical abuse.
Free Malaysia Today‘s Faiz Zainuddin reports that Menik escaped her employer and returned home to Indonesia on November 4, after about a year of being tortured by Ibrahim.
Menik’s daughter, Alfa Nurismayanti, said her mother was the recipient ofnumerous beatings, leading to severe head injuries.
Alfa adds that her mother made it known a year ago that she did not want to continue working in Malaysia and wanted to return home, but was forbidden from doing so by her employer.
“At 3pm on November 4, my mother came home unannounced. We found her at the site of my father’s grave behind our family home.
“She’s been uncommunicative ever since she returned. We have no idea how she made it back to Indonesia,” said Alfa.
Due to the fact that Menik was an undocmented foreign worker in Malaysia while employed by Ibrahim, her family does not hold out hope of receiving any help from Indonesian authorities.
However, Indonesian news media has picked up her story, and local authorities seem to be looking into her case:
