IGP: ISMA being investigated for sedition

The Royal Malaysian Police is  investigating remarks made by Abdullah Zaik Rahman, president of the Malay Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) under the Sedition Act, said insepctor-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Yesterday, Abdullah remarked that the ethnic Chinese migration to what is now Malaysia during British colonial rule was “a mistake” which needed to be rectified. He termed Chinese and other non-Malay and non-Muslim Malaysians “intruders” who colluded with the British to undermine Malay dominance, and questioned their right to citizenship and the wealth they have amassed while living in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Insider reports that Khalid confirmed that investigations would be carried out against the organization. He also warned all quarters against making inflammatory remarks.

“My advice to all is to be careful in making statements that could stir racial tension in the country,” he added.
