IGP: If BN leaders tweet something wrong, I’ll go after them too (but they don’t)

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar seems to be on a roll this week.

Reponding to criticisms of his crackdown on Opposition politicians and dissenting voices – and no one from the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition – on Twitter and other social media, Khalid said the Royal Malaysian Police seemed to only go after them because they’re the only ones who break the law.

“The problem is only their side (opposition) always create a ruckus and break the law.

“This is why it looks like we only take action against them,” he told The Rakyat Post‘s Michael Murty at the PDRM’s Police Day celebrations in Pulapol today.

He demanded to be shown any indication or proof that a member of the Federal Government or the BN coalition had made any incindiary remarks on social media, or had broken the law.

“Please show me a tweet that a BN leader made that was wrong.

“If there is, we will take the same action,” he said.

“I am also fed up of having to comment about being biased. Even the burning bible issue had already been referred to the A-G, so no need to ask me about it,” he added, referring to Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali’s call for Bahasa Malaysia Bibles using the word “Allah” to refer to God to be burned.

Khalid asserted that accusations of his bias against Opposition leaders and dissenters was a ruse to stir public sentiment against the PDRM, and to tarnish the reputation of Malaysian law enforcement.

“Yesterday (official DAP newsportal) Roketkini tweeted saying that we were working for Umno, I will call them to see us and show us the proof they have or we will take action against them.

“Do not purposely make these allegations that we work for Umno, we do not work for anyone and we take no orders from the minister.”

Hope that cleared everything up for everyone. The IGP is imaprtial, got it? Now move along.
