After a mild “Never mind, lah” reply to to Mukhriz parting words of advice for him to not fall asleep during his swearing-in ceremony, Ahmad Bashah has come out with guns blazing just hours later.
“I was not sleeping, I was only closing my eyes because I wanted to fully appreciate Tuanku’s speech at the palace function the other day, ” he clarified, according to a Sinar Harian report.
The incoming MB of Kedah was replying to a reporter’s question about a video of him nodding off during a palace function that had gone viral recently.
He insisted that as a guest seated at the front row with other VIPs including former MB Mukhriz Mahathir, it was impossible that he would fall asleep at such a grand event.
All the allegations were false and were deliberately made to project a negative image of him, he claimed at a noon press conference held at the Umno Kedah headquarters.
Ahmad Bashah also said that he will never fall asleep during the swearing in ceremony, referring to a jibe by Mukhriz earlier in the morning.
He described the “advice” as “naughty” and said the issue should never have been raised, adding that there may be some ulterior motive behind such “unproductive” advice.
