Husband chases down man who snatched wife’s handbag

Like the Catwoman said in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’; “Never steal anything from someone you can’t outrun”.

The saying rang true for one thief who was caught alsmot as soon as he grabbed a woman’s handbag in Alor Setar.

According to The New Straits Times, the thief’s attempt to snatch the woman’s handbag was foiled when the her husband chased him down and apprehended him.

The 29-year-old clerk had reportedly just exited a sundry shop and was walking back to her car at 12.30am on Sunday when the suspect, reportedly an Indonesian, snatched her bag from behind and made a run for it.

The woman’s husband, who witnessed the whole incident, reportedly got out of the car and chased the 33-year-old snatch thief to a nearby petrol station.

With the help from passers-by, the suspect was apprenhended and later handed over to the police.

Kota Star district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rozi Jidin told the daily that checks have revealed that the suspect holds an Indonesian passport but is married to a Malaysian.
