A housewife went through a traumatising experience when she was attacked by a robber who was attempting to snatch her handbag on Friday.
According to a news report by theSun, the 40-year-old woman nearly lost the fingers on her left hand after the robber slashed her with a parang in the 1.50pm incident.
It is believed that the woman, who had earlier driven her son to a mosque nearby, was followed home by three men who were on motorcycles.
Section 10 residents’ association chairman Ronald Danker told the daily that the woman had parked her car outside her house when the parang-wielding suspect smashed the front passenger window to grab her handbag.
When the woman put up a struggle, the robber allegedly swung his parang and slashed the woman’s hand, Ronald related the incident to theSun.
After hearing the woman’s screams, several neighbours rushed out of their homes and one of them who went to the woman’s aid was reportedly warned with harm by the robber.
“The robbers fled empty-handed on seeing neighbours appear. The injured victim who suffered a severed finger and torn tendons was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
“She has undergone surgery and remains warded at the hospital. We have handed to police a footage of the attack captured by a neighbour’s close-circuit security camera. We have had petty crimes in the area every now and then but in recent years, this is the most serious,” he was quoted as saying.
