Horror accident on North-South Highway kills three

Three people were killed in a horrific accident which took place on Monday evening.

According to The New Straits Times, a couple – S. Siva, 34, and M. Gayetri, 32 – and their 2-year-old daughter Viishnu Priiya were thrown out of the vehicle when the car they were travelling in smashed into a road divider before ending up in a ditch at the KM104.3 mark of the North-South Highway.

All three of them were reportedly killed on the spot.

Their two sons — Tushan, five, and Tiiraan, four — survived the accident.

“During the 6.10pm accident, the family was believed to be heading towards Kuala Lumpur when their car swerved to the left and crashed into the road divider.

“The crash caused the car to roll several times, which led to the three victims being thrown out of the car.

“The injured victims were taken to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital,” Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Wahib Musa was quoted by the daily as saying.

Abdul Wahib added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
