Homemade explosive on railway tracks an amateur’s work: cops

The police have revealed that the homemade explosive device found near a railway track in Sentul was quite “amateurish” in its design.

Bukit Aman Special Branch Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun told The Star Online that the police have denied any involvement of the Islamic State terror group, but they are not ruling out sabotage as a possible motive.

“We believe it might be a bid to sabotage but it is still too early to say.

“The Bomb Squad has examined the device and acted decisively in neutralising it.

“Don’t assume that every peculiar incident is the work of IS. It will create unnecessary panic and alarm for the people,” he was quoted as saying.

On Wednesday, a member of the public reportedly stumbled upon a plastic bottle filled with glass shards and ball bearings, believed to be a homemade explosive, at Lorong Kolam Air 9 in Sentul.
