Clear your calendars, and start thinking about how you’re gonna pull off that MC – Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are set to arrive on our fair shores tomorrow for a week-long visit. They are here in honor of the celebration of 60 years of bilateral relations between Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
Is “bilateral relations” the new euphemism for imperialism, guys? JOKES! We know the British were just here for the weather, great food, and to get us hooked on cheese. Wink.
New Straits Times reports: “Prince Charles and Camilla are expected to engage with Malaysians from all strata of society – from members of royalty to students, underprivileged children to youth groups, civil society organizations to representatives of the business community.”
Basically, they’re here to potentially meet all of us, so make sure you’re free.
On a serious note, the relationship between the two nations remains strong, with the United Kingdom being Malaysia’s third largest trading partner in Europe, and Malaysia being the UK’s second largest ASEAN export market. Currently, there are 18,000 Malaysian students studying in the UK. We go way back, and the ties run deep.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting locations of significance in Malaysia, and meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at Istana Negara, as well as with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
This will be Camilla’s first visit to Malaysia.
As always, we here at Coconuts KL want nothing more than the visitors to our dear peninsula to have a great time, so please take our advice – it’s a crime to come here and not get the wings at Wong Ah Wah. Shrimp paste ones. Also salted egg squid!
As always, PM for guestlist, and don’t order any pitchers at Reggae Bar if you value the function your liver.
